Five people dead after major incident in Bedford

FIVE people are dead and a man is in police custody after a major police incident at a house in Coode Street, Bedford.

Assistant commissioner Paul Steel said the victims were both adults and children, but the exact ages and genders were unknown at this stage.

He said a man in his 20s had turned himself into police at a regional station, however he would not reveal which police station the man was being held at.

UPDATE: Neighbours in shock as police reveal ages of victims

Police attended the address as a result of the man turning himself in at midday this afternoon.

Forensic police are currently investigating the scene.

“The Homicide Squad will take control of the scene,” he said.

“Specialist forensic police will investigate the scene.”

A number of police cars, homicide squad officers and forensic police are at the house.

The road is blocked off at the Coode Street and Beaufort Street intersection.

A statement from police said there were no ongoing concerns for public safety as a result of the incident.

“The WA Police Force will continue to apply our efforts to this matter as a priority and the Homicide Squad will ensure a professional and meticulous investigation is undertaken,” the statement said.
