Police urge drivers to lock cars near local park

BAYSWATER police is urging people to lock their cars near Riverside Gardens after four cars were broken into in on Wednesday.

Between 3pm and 4.30pm, one locked and three unlocked cars were broken into at the Bayswater park and neighbouring streets of Garratt Road and Milne Street.

Officer-in-charge John Waghorn said officers linked a stolen credit card, which was fraudulently used 15 times in an hour before it was cancelled, to one of the cars.

“We have a lot of frauds coming from people’s wallets,” he said.

“They are all happening in that small pocket around Riverside Gardens.

“People need to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables inside like wallets.”
