Radio Moosh to hold music quiz fundraiser

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

INTERNET radio station Radio Moosh is tuning up for its launch with a music quiz event held in Bayswater.

Station manager Nesa Wake, of Subiaco, has worked in-and-out of the radio industry for about 30 years.

She has always dreamt of running her own station and when her friend linked her to another online radio station, she decided to start one herself.

The station already has about 30 people on board and 18 specialist music shows in the development stage, including six for WA music.

Presenters include journalist Bob Gordon, North Metropolitan Tafe Leederville teacher Steve Clarke, The Beautiful Losers band member Greg Dear, solo artist Tania Martin and Loads band member Liam Coffey.

Wake said before starting Radio Moosh, she worked in radio, record companies, marketing, advertising and wrote for her own pop culture blog.

“It had been a dream to have my own radio station but I always thought it would be financially out of reach to possibly do that,” she said.

“Things went into motion very quickly and it became something like a juggernaut

“Our primary vision is to give a leg up to WA musicians and give them exposure on an international market.”

Wake said she loved making a difference in someone’s day through radio.

The station is holding a music quiz at Bayswater Bowling and Recreation Club on September 14 to raise funds towards its start up costs.

There will be 11 rounds, raffles, prizes worth up to $1000 each, fuel vouchers and a silent auction.

It is expected to be launched worldwide on its website, app, iHeartRadio and tune-in apps at the start of next year.
