CUPCAKE chefs and animal lovers can show off their baking skills to combat animal cruelty with the RSPCA’s Cupcake Day on August 15.

The animal care centre in Malaga would be hosting its annual fundraiser with proceeds helping sick, neglected and injured animals.

Community engagement executive manager Maree Daniels said participants who hosted a cupcake day event could make a difference to animals’ welfare.

“The reality is that although we may find it hard to believe animal cruelty happens, sadly, it does,” she said.

“You will be supporting the fight against animal cruelty, helping to keep our inspectors on the road and assisting with the rehabilitation we provide.”

In 2015, inspectors handled 16,000 cruelty reports with more than 6000 requiring investigation.
