THE Scale Modellers Club of WA in Noranda will soon undergo a makeover to lift its presence in the suburb.

The Robert Thompson Reserve-based club received a donation of $2,354.90 from Bayswater Council towards signage and promotional materials.

There are currently 160 members at the club but it is aiming to attract more juniors.

President Kurt Fischer thanked the City’s officers and councillors for the grant.

“Scale Modellers Club of WA is truly a unique club and the facility in Noranda is the only one of its kind in all of Perth,” he said.

“We plan on printing a couple of mobile flag banners, a new A-frame sign, a pull-up banner for when some of our senior members visit schools and also some external wall signage that can work for us when we are not there.

“We are all about preserving and promoting that art of scale modelling, irrespective of subject matter, and are especially keen to see young children get off their devices and take up some hand skills.

“With our senior instructors the inter-generational transfer of skills is truly amazing to see.”
