The 84-year-old school favourite died suddenly during the July school holidays, leaving a massive void at the school.

Principal Lisa Gibson said Mr Da Re had worked at the school for more than 10 years and knew most of the students well.

"Frank was an integral part of the morning and afternoon routine at our school," Ms Gibson said.

He was like the grandad who greeted the children every day. He remembered all the students and their stories and would inquire if the student was OK if he hadn't seen them for a while.
