Sign to stop subway crashes

In the past year, three trucks have been caught under the King William Street/Coode Street underpass after the drivers ignored the bridge clearance height of 3.8metres.

Public Transport Authority David Hynes said while the signage indicating the underpass height (3.8m) had always been prominent, it was hoped that this even more highly-visible indicator would remind drivers of tall vehicles to ensure they are able to safely navigate the underpass.

‘It’s no secret a number of trucks have hit the Bayswater rail bridge in recent months,’ he said.
