The Women’s Exhibition Match at Etihad Stadium, in Melbourne, on Sunday June 29, will feature Rheannne Lugg (pick 6) picked up by the Western Bulldogs and Kellie Gibson (pick 5) who was picked by Melbourne.

Chelsea Randall (pick 3), Kara Donnellan (pick 5) and Kirby Bentley (pick 9) will also play for Melbourne after being selected in last year’s draft.

Donnellan, who began playing football at the age of nine, started playing senior women’s football at 16 and represented Victoria five times.

Donnellan said the game had given her friendships and a passion for football and was honoured again to be involved in the AFL Women’s Draft.

‘Chelsea, Kirby and I were all lucky enough to be retained from last year’s squad, so Monday night was all about the other female footballers in WA trying to get snapped up by either the Melbourne Football Club or the Western Bulldogs,’ she said.

Donnellan said she was looking forward to playing the sport in front of thousands of people.

‘Words can’t explain the feelings and emotions I got last year when my name was read out on draft night, I had no idea what was about to happen and what I was about to be a part of,’ she said.

‘Running out on to the MCG in front of 7500 people, creating history for female football is what dreams are made of.’
