SWAN Active Ballajura has closed its doors until November due to major refurbishment works.

The City of Swan has started the upgrade works which are worth $2 million.

Upgrades include re-tiling the pool area and its surrounds, refurbishing the kiosk and reception and construction of a new shaded outdoor area.

Residents will need to use other Swan Active facilities in Beechboro and Midland.

Swan Mayor David Lucas said the upgrades would offer the community an improved experience for all ages and abilities.

“These significant refurbishment works will provide a revitalised facility for our community to enjoy,” he said.

“Our three Swan Active centres are important community assets and we have to ensure any upgrades to these facilities are for the utmost benefit of our patrons.”

Whiteman ward councillor Maria Haynes said once completed, the facility would be a “focal point” for social interaction and recreation.
