Thea Campbell (11) tries to break world dog grooming record

Leah RobertsEastern Reporter

MOST 11-year-olds would be happy simply with a movie night for their birthday.

But Thea Campbell is organising a Doggie Dinner Movie Night and hopes to beat the world record for the most number of dogs at a dog grooming lesson.

“The idea to beat the world record started from reading the Guinness Book of World Records,” she said.

“I need to have 365 dogs at the dog grooming lesson to smash the record.

“I hope to have about 400 dogs at the event.”

The event will raise money for the Shenton Park Dogs Refuge Home. If 500 people attend, then $7000 will be raised for the refuge.

Thea said she hoped to do the event once a year.

“Every year there would be a different theme,” she said.

“This year the theme is Italian, as we will have Italian food vendors and show the movie Lady and the Tramp.”

The event will have dog-themed markets, doggie mocktails and free dog spaghetti.

Maylands MLA Lisa Baker will host the event.
