Top order: new nets for Noranda Junior Cricket Club

Toyah ShakespeareEastern Reporter

NEW cricket nets will help junior Noranda players sharpen their skills, after the City of Bayswater committed $18,000 to the project.

The practice nets will be installed at Deschamp Reserve and include full-length synthetic turf wickets.

Noranda Junior Cricket Club will use the nets which were set to attract more players to the game.

Noranda Primary School students, whose school is next door to the reserve, will also make use of the new nets.

Mayor Barry McKenna said cricket was played at the reserve all year round, with four teams and a weekly last man standing competition.

“Having these new practice nets upgraded on Deschamp Reserve will take this cricket pitch to the next level,” he said.

The net upgrade is set to be completed in the New Year.
