Town of Bassendean to develop community and stakeholder engagement strategy

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

RESIDENTS living in the Town of Bassendean are set to voice their views on the future of Bassendean at a shop-front on Old Perth Road, as part of a community engagement process.

At the December 18 council meeting, Bassendean Council unanimously voted to endorse the project timeline to deliver a community and stakeholder engagement strategy.

Outcomes of the engagement strategy will contribute to the vision for the development of the Town’s local planning strategy.

Funding for the strategy would be included in the 2018-19 budget review in February with more funding to be allocated for leasing a shop-front and design models in the 2019-20 budget.

It is expected to cost between $80,000 to $140,000 to appoint a consultant team.

Officers are investigating vacant sites for the shop-front, which is proposed to be open for the community over a six-month period.

The project will be undertaken over two financial years and is expected to be completed in October 2019.
