Harvey, the former president of the community art centre, said his works reflected the sea in his hometown Devon.

“I have it (painting) in my blood and I can’t help it,” he said.

He said he liked painting old memories on canvases because he could embrace what he missed.

Lopez said art was universal and for everyone to enjoy.

“I’ve painted local birds because I think they bring a lot of joy to people because they are probably the most common native animal that we see here,” he said.

“For me, painting is very enjoyable and it is a way of bringing out the life and the world around you.”
