WA Budget: East Metro region to receive $688m in funding

PERTH’S eastern metropolitan region will be the beneficiary of $688 million in funding announced in today’s State Budget.

The funds will be used to create major transport upgrades for the region, including $340 million for the Swan Valley Bypass and Tonkin Highway upgrades.

There will also be upgrades of the Great Northern Highway between Muchea and Wubin, and the creation of the $49 million Ellenbrook Bus Rapid Transit.

There will be substantial investments in education, with the opening of Harrisdale Secondary College, improvements to Byford Secondary College, Armadale Senior High School, Cecil Andrews High School and Inglewood Primary School.

Ballajura Police Station will receive a $4.1 million funding boost, while Mundijong police station will get a $1 million injection of funds.
