WA Police welfare concerns for young outback travellers

UPDATE – 2.05pm: The couple has made contact with police and advised they are safe and well.

7.35am: WA Police have welfare concerns for two outback travellers in their early 20s.

The male and female were last known to have been travelling across the north-eastern Pilbara in a silver 80s series Toyota Landcruiser towing a green box trailer.

They were reported by other travellers to be driving the Canning Stock Route, or any other route, to get to Port Hedland from the vicinity of the Kunawarritji Community in the Gibson Desert North.

However, they were experiencing vehicle troubles and may have been travelling only at night or in the cool of the day.

The couple is believed to have made telephone contact with a vehicle repairer confirming required parts were available in Port Hedland on September 8 but have yet to appear or make further contact.
