West Swan siblings poke fun at Trump in Made in Amerika web series

Sarah BrookesEastern Reporter

WEST Swan siblings Russell and Montana Roberts launched a new satirical web series last month that replaces US president Donald Trump with Barney the Dinosaur.

Mr Roberts said Made in Amerika was born out of frustration over the Trump-mania media cycle.

“The media seem to focus more on the antics of Trump instead of the issues around him,” he said.

“For some reason Barney the Dinosaur got stuck in my head, as the parallels between the two are uncanny – they’re both former TV stars, and they both have ‘costumed personas’.

“Made in Amerika is possibly the most entertaining presidency yet with President Barney skilfully handling issues with ISIS, North Korea, eggs, Lena Dunham and the entire Disney corporation, accompanied by his aides Jefferies and Michaels.”

Mr Roberts said with sets constructed from cardboard and paper and a cast comprised of discarded, old dolls, plushies, toys and dairy products, the comedy show had a creative style unlike any other.

“The ideas and writing are subversive, and uncompromising and draw from greats like Monty Python and Trey Parker and Matt Stone of South Park fame,” he said.

“This series is low on budget and high on talent. It is satire in its finest poly-cotton suit.”
