Whiteman Park named among WA’s top tourist attractions

Toyah ShakespeareEastern Reporter

WHITEMAN Park has been recognised as one of the top tourist attractions in the State, after the 2016 WA Tourism Award finalists were announced this month.

Run by the State Department of Planning and with more than one million visitors a year, the park is a finalist in the major tourist attraction category.

Planning Minister Donna Faragher said the announcement represented the hard work and dedication of many people at the park.

“From paid staff to volunteers and the leaseholders who operate the Park’s many attractions and conservation activities,” she said.

Ms Faragher said in the last year the Whiteman Village playground had a $250,000 upgrade, car parking, toilet facilities, bike and footpaths were improved and a visitor information bay was added.

Whiteman Park includes Caversham Wildlife Park, the Motor Museum of WA, Tractor Museum of WA, Heritage Electric Tram Rides, Whiteman Explorer tours and Bennett Brook Railway vintage train rides.

Other finalists in the major tourism category include Adventure World, Fremantle Prison, Perth Zoo, Rottnest Island and The Bell Tower.
