CONSTRUCTION works have begun at the Ballajura part of the Hepburn Avenue upgrade, where two lanes will expand to four.

The section between Alexander Drive and Bellefin Drive will operate as a dual carriage way.

City of Swan councillor John McNamara said the $3.9 million dollar project, funded by the State Government and Swan, was expected to be completed by the end of June.

“While works take place, traffic management will be in place to minimise any impact and delays, so please take care, follow the road signs and drive to the conditions,” he said.

Mayor Mick Wainwright said the upgrade was a win for commuters, and necessary to keep up with the increase in traffic.

“This section of Hepburn Avenue is currently at capacity with close to 17,000 vehicles travelling along it every day, and this number is expected to increase with the construction of NorthLink WA,” he said.

“Not only will this upgrade improve the quality of this stretch of road, it will improve the journey and travel time for commuters.”
