The centre runs fitness classes for people of all ages and abilities including FitY’s, Zumba gold and gentle yoga for people aged over 50s and body pump, MetaPWR and Konga for people who want to increase fitness and strength.

There are also classes for children, teens and adults including dance, sport, gym and art classes.

Other initiatives include the Living Longer, Living Stronger classes in collaboration with the Council on the Ageing and the Inclusion for Life program which helps young people with disabilities to develop motor skills through sport.

Health club coordinator Shelley Hall said the YMCA team felt proud of becoming a finalist and thanked former manager David for applying for the award.

“It feels great to know that we are regarded as being up there with other quality businesses, and it’s exciting that a not-for-profit organisation that helps people globally can also be recognised as a contender for such a great award,” she said.

Hall said the centre was always interested in offering a new classes to keep with demand and scope from members.

“The YMCA’s goal for 2019 is all around creating a community hub in our centre, offering more products and services, attracting a wider network of people who can come together, enjoy any of the activities we have to offer here and maybe sit and have a coffee after,” she said.
