Youngsters help pay tribute to Anzac Day

Belinda CiprianoEastern Reporter

Centre staff invited children to decorate their own red poppy as part of an artistic installation commemorating the centenary of the Gallipoli landing and Mirrabooka Senior High School performed.

Centre manager Leanne Chaproniere said the activity aimed to engage children in learning about the Anzac legacy, honouring the men and women who participated in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

After Anzac Day, the artistic installation will be donated to the Nollamara RSL and placed in its clubroom.

"We have always strived to support the local RSL by designating space in the malls to raise awareness and funds for ANZAC day and Remembrance Day," Ms Chaproniere said. "This year we hoped to further show our support for the RSL by accepting donations on their behalf, in exchange for red poppies, and helping to make this ANZAC deservedly special via our activities with local children."
