Different route. Public transport. Opinion

Janice TeoEastern Reporter

THE announced slowdown in buying extra Transperth trains will affect all of us who use the south and south-east lines.

So forget the tunnel to the airport, and for now try high frequency bus services from the airport terminals to Ashfield station via Tonkin Highway. Ashfield station would require some upgrading, but has space to do this that Bayswater does not.

This improved link between the airport and rail system could be running in as little as a month, not the years a tunnel will take.

The money saved can then be used on more railcars for the metro rail network, and maybe even part of light rail.
