Green Action Group survey is manipulating answers

I DID not participate in the survey conducted by the Green Action Group in Bassendean regarding the development proposal to the Oval and BIC area because I am involved with the Community Working Group on this proposal.

I am not sure if the survey included any other questions, but if those are the only questions asked from the community, then I can see how those results were obtained.

Do I want council to preserve open green spaces? Of course I do, wherever possible.

Now ask me a question where I have a choice.

Open green spaces in their present state; or lose a portion of it and get nicely integrated landscaped areas that engage the community to connect, experience, linger and feel safe.

Try that one and see what results you get.

This survey is manipulating the community to a biased desired outcome and does not really express the real views of what people may want.

LandCorp has listened and has now provided options that included the Community Working Group’s input over the past few months.

I remember in January the Green Action Group alluded to the fact that LandCorp had already done plans and that the stakeholders were hiding them from us.

Well that was certainly not the case when the Community Working Group sat with LandCorp designers and planners to achieve the best possible options and outcomes for all concerned.

I simply detest this fear mongering that is happening within our community and urge all of you to review the proposal when it is finally displayed for all to see in the next couple of months.

Please, let us work together on this and get a great outcome for all of us ratepayers in Bassendean.
