Bassendean resident suggests council hypocritical over fire preparation notices

NOW that the fire season is upon us, some residents in Bassendean have received notices to clean up the dry grass from their property immediately or incur penalties.

However, I find this hypocritical of council when it comes to managing the ratepayers’ parks and open spaces. One example would be the council’s land in Iveson Place, Bassendean where children play and the grass is extremely dry and very high.

It should have been cut many weeks ago, or does this council feel that dry grass over a metre high is not a fire danger?
