IN response to Angie Piantadosi’s letter headlined ‘Welcome the people’, it was nice to see Angie at our council meeting on Tuesday. The acting mayor extended an invitation for all in the public gallery to join us after the meeting and we had a very happy hour or so talking about council matters.
Angie’s excellent suggestion was quickly taken up by council and I thank her for her contribution.
Another excellent community contribution, in partnership with the Town of Bassendean and the Ashfield Community Action Network (ACAN), has been the revitalisation of Gary Blanche Reserve.
It now has a new limestone path down the middle, new grass in selected areas, a series of nature playgrounds, a natural pebble stream and a mounded and mulched perimeter.
All are welcome to come and have a look. On Sunday, there was a community planting and barbecue.
The Town and ACAN have completed this first phase in great partnership and our thanks go to Emma, Lucy, Bob and the many others from ACAN and Town officers for their good work.
Work will continue at phase two.
CR GERRY PULE, Bassendean
