Nalder’s Marie Antoinette attitude

Nalder’s Marie Antoinette attitude

THE Minister for Transport, Dean Nalder, has endorsed a Department of Transport plan to slash bus services to residents of Nollamara.

Two bus routes primarily service Nollamara: the 354 and the 870.

The plan will see the frequency of the 354 service halved and re-routed while the frequency of the 870 will be effectively doubled despite Transport loading figures showing the 354 service caters to twice the number of local passengers. (The 870 service principally carries passengers transiting through Mirrabooka Bus Station.)

The minister’s response was local residents can walk an extra 500 metres if they want to catch a higher-frequency service.

While Marie Antoinette might not have said “let them eat cake” she lost her head and with decisions like this, perhaps Mr Nalder might too.
