Staff appear reluctant to use even simple weed removal alternatives such as hand weeding, hoeing, wippa snipping and heavy wire brushing in the short term.

Going further, closer examination of the weed control issues is difficult when the CEO does not permit public questions or short presentations at the audit and risk management committee meetings.

All in all, it is time for the Bassendean administration, including some councillors, to be more transparent, listen and even change their positions in response to the community’s concerns.

If certain staff and councillors cannot change, (remember the vote of no confidence in November 2016), then please step aside now for the good of us all.
