Refurbished Guildford Hotel spectacular

Gerry Coleman, BassendeanEastern Reporter

WOW, it may have taken eight years but the phoenix has risen from the ashes in spectacular style.

The revamped Guildford Hotel re-opened after a devastating blaze all but destroyed this 132-year-old historical beauty.

As a well-travelled Irishman, I have frequented my fair share of pubs around the world and can say that the Guildford Hotel is going to set the benchmark for Perth’s entertainment venues.

The old hotel had great character with two bar areas and two courtyards but only on the ground floor.

The new transformed hotel has used all of the upstairs increasing the entertainment areas at least tenfold with tastefully incorporating internal balconies, open space and even charred remains of an in-situ window frame and ceiling rafters.

I am proud to have it on my doorstep: outstanding.
