Opinion. Bassendean shopper stuck: travelator

Janice TeoEastern Reporter

OVER about three years, people shopping at the Bassendean Shopping Centre during its re-development had to put up with the parking area being torn up, heavy work vehicles moving around and the usual clutter of a building site making it a dangerous place to do your shopping.

Having put up with this inconvenience, I would have thought that management could have ensured that the travelator servicing the lower car park would stop breaking down.

I was stranded for 20 minutes last Friday waiting for someone to come and switch it on. This not the first time this has occurred and there should be a bell to push to alert security that the travelator is not operating.

I would think that after the re-development costing millions of dollars, getting the travelator to work properly would be a minor problem.
