Bayswater bridge still damaged. Opinion

Janice TeoEastern Reporter

ALMOST four months after an article in the Eastern Suburbs Reporter, nothing has been done about damage to a Bayswater subway bridge.

With several incidents involving trucks hitting and being stuck under the bridge, the Public Transport Authority spent $80,000 on new markings, lighting and solar-powered LED flashing signage system.

This has been broken for months now in what appears to be an expensive Band-Aid solution. There is still an exposed rusted concrete reinforcing bar and large cracks on the supporting walls, damage due to crash impacts.

I think the PTA could be a bit more proactive in maintaining this decaying bridge.
