HAS the Town of Bassendean lost the plot? Some of the town’s parks, reserves and public open spaces have lovely children’s playground equipment but what appears to be deadly asbestos.
Decayed and broken fencing adorn these play areas.
Instead of the council bragging about ‘development plans together with LandCorp and Swan Districts Football Club, to deliver more residential and commercial opportunities’ (Bassendean Briefing, August-September), perhaps it should go back to basics and think about protecting the health and safety of our children and general public.
One example of neglect would be Clarke Way reserve with a lovely children’s playground, but within metres of a decayed broken fence and an open council drain.
Do not neglect these very important assets and the good people of Bassendean. Council, if you want to be considered as a responsible viable council then lift your game.
GERRY COLEMAN, Bassendean
