Time to change

THE population of Bassendean is only half what it takes to be a city.

Town income is less, yet average overheads can be higher.

As for better planning for Perth, this was promoted in 2005 with new public open spaces, density choices around railway stations, affordable housing options plus more rates for better services.

However, don’t hold your breath; the present Bassendean council wants another five years before this planning even starts.

Moreover, there is no advertised period to improve community safety with better footpath lighting that, according to council staff, only comes with underground power.

Yet again, less than half the job is done.

Cr John Gangell has been Bassendean Mayor for more than five years. It’s time for a complete change in Octobers local government elections.
