Too many trees being cut down

MARGARET RYAN, BallajuraEastern Reporter

READING about Bayswater’s plans to protect street trees when developments are taking place in its council boundaries sounds like a great idea that any other councils that may not have such a plan should have one.

Too many verge trees and trees in parks are being cut down.

Given the warming climate and the shocking clearing of land in all areas of development, anything that can be done to preserve what trees and bush are still there should be done.

Plant more trees on parks, median strips and anywhere possible so that not only do we help to shade areas and reduce the heat, but we would also provide shelter for all sorts of wildlife.
