Tree dispute escalates

HAVING been in dispute with the City of Bayswater for the past five years regarding a tree hanging over my house, I would have to agree wholeheartedly with Vince McCudden’s comment in last week’s edition about the City’s tree maintenance policy.

Despite repeated requests to prune a tree that is overhanging my house, nothing has been done.

The City continually claims that by having an arborist inspect the trees annually, that absolves it from any blame.

Therefore, as I suspected it might, last year a branch from this tree dropped through my roof while I was away.

The City has denied responsibility and ignored all claims and further requests to prune it back away from my house, a fairly arrogant attitude considering I have been a ratepayer residing in Bayswater for the past 30 years.

Additionally to the cars being damaged, I saw in the Reporter that some trees had been ringbarked.

It would come as no surprise if the perpetrator had to take the law into their own hands after having a complete lack of success through the legal system.
