COCKBURN Gateway Shopping City received the coveted Retail Shopping Centre of the Year award at last night’s Property Council 2018 WA Property Awards.

Held at Pan Pacific, Perth the awards celebrated the achievements of the retail and commercial sectors of the WA property industry, with a focus on excellence in marketing and management.

Cockburn Gateway Shopping City also won the Large Retail awards for Excellence in Marketing: Community for its Breast Friends campaign and Excellence in Management.

Property Council of Australia WA executive director Sandra Brewer commended Cockburn Gateway Shopping City on its success.

“With shopping centres constantly evolving and finding innovative ways to enhance and drive human connection through the customer experience, what Cockburn Gateway Shopping City has delivered is an incredible achievement,” she said.

“Over the past year (it) has set the bar for creating community-focused campaigns and continual improvement in management.

“Cockburn Gateway Shopping City’s collaborative Breast Friends campaign increased annual fundraising for Breast Cancer Care WA by an additional $28,822.

“Their in-centre activations succeeded in enhancing the customer experience through key objectives focusing on exceptional community experiences and connecting customers.”

Another major winner was Stockland Riverton, taking home the Retail Marketing Campaign of the Year award and Small Retail award for Excellence in Marketing: Innovation for ArtQuarium, its immersive, real-time touch-responsive aquarium that brought the centre to life, and celebrated sustainability through interactive technology.

Ms Brewer said the ArtQuarium campaign increased traffic and amplified speciality sales by 18.34 per cent, resulting in a strong return on investment.
