IT is possible to buy an affordable home close to Perth city according to CoreLogic.
Its weekly Property Pulse identified five suburbs with median house prices under $500,000 within 7.5km of the CBD.
Suburbs north and south of the river made the list.
Glendalough, with a median house price of $422,718, was closest at 5.1km from Perth.
Rivervale (5.5km) was second, followed by Tuart Hill (6.5km), Osborne Park (6.7km) and Belmont (7.3km).
Within the list Rivervale had the highest median house price at $495,499.
Across Australia only home owners in Adelaide and Hobart were better placed when it come to finding affordable places to live close to the CBD.
CoreLogic identified five suburbs under $500,000 within 4.7km of the Adelaide CBD and within 5.3km of Hobart.
Canberra only had one suburb with a median house price under $500,000 and that was 12.2km from the city.
Buyers would need to be prepared to do some serious commuting in Sydney.
The closest suburb to the CBD with a median house price under $500,000 was 39.5km away.
It was one of only two suburbs within 50km of the CBD with a median house value below $500,000.
Darwin and Brisbane each had one suburb under $500,000 within 10km of the CBD, while Melbourne’s closest was 16.1km away.
