Move up in historic Bassendean

Keren BellosEastern Reporter

Developed by Willing Property, The Whitfield comprises 34 apartments, and an office, bar and kitchen at the corner of Whitfield Street and Old Perth Road, opposite Bassendean Shopping Village.

The four-level complex completed by PACT Constructions is part of Bassendean’s revitalisation.

Architect John Silbert’s design was inspired by the town’s heritage, with a red-brick facade to complement the historic buildings.

Willing Property founder Tim Willing said predominantly locals had secured apartments at The Whitfield, which is more than 85 per cent sold.

“Offering a rare opportunity to enjoy the historic charm of Bassendean, one of Perth’s oldest town centres, The Whitfield not only has first-rate transport access, but it is also a moment’s stroll from shops and cafes, the local hotel and wine bar, Coles and a 24-hour gym,” Mr Willing said.

“People already living in and around Bassendean appreciate the area’s unique location, fabulous amenity and sense of community history, and a number of them have jumped at the chance to enjoy the apartment lifestyle in a brand new, sensitively designed building.”

The Whitfield’s remaining one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are priced from $369,000.

Designed by Gavin Campbell, the modern interiors feature timber floors, Bosch appliances, stone kitchen benchtops, designer light fittings and Caroma tapware.

There are also large private balconies, secure parking, bicycle storage, airconditioning and CCTV security.

The building’s design includes a stunning entrance lobby, atrium-style garden and signature public art piece by WA artist Tim McFarlane Reid.

The bar and kitchen are set to open in the coming months.
