THIS is the first time this original home on a 1012sq m block has been for sale since it was built in the 1950s.
Kelly’s parents bought the block in 1950 for 150 and her dad began work on the house in 1952, moving in the following year.
“Dad built as much of the house as he could, asking friends in the trade to complete those jobs that he couldn’t,” she said.
“He continued to extend the home in the ’60s and ’70s, including adding in the pool and built-in barbecue, which was where he cooked up prawns after trawling locally in the river.”
The residence offers a variety of spaces for entertaining and living, with the formal lounge room and dining at the front, a huge games room extending out to the patio, activity room and kitchen with meals area.
The four bedrooms include the master with built-in robes and there is a bathroom plus separate toilet next to the laundry.
With lush established gardens, the outside spaces include the carport, workshop with storage, garden shed and the family-sized pool.
With original features such as high ceilings, feature fireplaces and classic light fittings, the vintage lover will enjoy doing up this home or there is the option to subdivide and sell.
“My favourite part of the house as a child was the cubby which dad built with a window that opened on to the garden and it still has a large fixed blackboard and some shelving,” Kelly said.
The property is in a fantastic location a short drive from all of South Perth’s amenities.
