REIWA members pitching in for Salvo’s Sleeping Bag Appeal

Natalie HordovEastern Reporter

REIWA members are supporting the Salvation Army’s Sleeping Bag Appeal and asking West Australians to also donate to the cause.

Based on 2011 Census data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the estimated number of people who were homeless in WA was 9592, with 925 people sleeping rough or in improvised dwellings.

The Salvation Army is seeking donations of sleeping bags and blankets to replenish their stocks to distribute to those in need.

Last year, REIWA members and their staff donated hundreds of sleeping bags and blankets to the appeal and REIWA president Hayden Groves said the contribution from local agencies had a positive impact on the community they lived and worked in.
