Right Homes won the GreenSmart Residential Development, GreenSmart Water Efficiency and GreenSmart Energy Efficiency awards for the seven-unit development The Siding in Lathlain.

The builder also won the GreenSmart Project Home award for a solar-passive home in Bayswater for the careful consideration of the block’s orientation, insulation needs, ventilation, thermal mass, client lifestyle and budget to produce a home that is comfortable and affordable to run.

The judges were impressed with Right Homes’ commitment to reducing energy consumption and lowering living expenses for its clients.

“Both ourselves and the property owners are ecstatic we won,” company co-director Anna Wright said.

“We are very proud of the fact that we are leading the way with sustainable housing.”

Envisaged by sustainable community company The Green Wing, The Siding units each achieve at least a nine-star energy rating by harnessing the benefits of passive-solar design and including ample insulation to ensure minimal reliance on mechanical heating or cooling devices.

“The Green Wing was created by two couples with a vision to make a difference in the way people live in communities and we were privileged to help them realise this dream with The Siding,” Mrs Wright said.

The awards recognise the best in environmentally responsible housing across 12 award categories.
