Staff writerEastern Reporter

WATTLE Grove is the state’s top performer for house price growth over the past decade, with values in the south-eastern suburb almost doubling.

A new Corelogic report shows the median for the locale, 16km from the Perth CBD, rose 89.7 per cent from $266,839 to $506,235 in the 10 years to May.

Southern suburb Success was close behind with 83.7 per cent growth to achieve a median of $514,263.

Its neighbour Aubin Grove ($539,301) and Tapping ($500,795) and Darch ($574,909), both in the City of Wanneroo, were also in WA’s top 10.

Provincial principal Ben Ciocca said higher commercial property sales including a new shopping centre with an Aldi supermarket and future shopping hub sites, further residential land development and the suburb’s overall attractive nature had driven Wattle Grove’s price growth.

“Wattle Grove Primary School is one of the most sought-after public primary schools, plus the area has easy access to the city, freeways and the airport,” he said.

The area’s homebuyers were predominantly younger families and fly-in, fly-out workers.

Mr Ciocca said the growth was likely to continue due to the planned Forrestfield train station coupled with its very accessible position and potential for commercial expansion.

For units, city-fringe West Leederville was the top-performing suburb with 48 per cent growth resulting in a median of $470,316.

Riverside South Perth had the top value at $575,287.
