Wembley: UK migrants loving ‘good family area’

CHRISSIE Flack and her husband Stuart Jones moved to Wembley from the UK six years ago. “We chose to live in Wembley because the only person we knew in Perth lived here,” they said. “We stayed with them for a while before finding a place to rent.”

Ms Flack and Mr Jones then bought in Wembley and renovated before selling and buying their current home in 2014.

Mr Jones is a roof carpenter and has established his own company, Cambridge Renovations.

In between jobs, he and Ms Flack are extensively renovating their home.

Originally, it was a brick and asbestos, two-bedroom, one-bathroom home with a lean-to, on a 600sq m block with a pool. When completed it will be a four-bedroom, two-bathroom, two-storey modern home with a poolhouse that will include an outdoor kitchen and shower.

They plan to sell eventually, and may renovate again, but will stay in Wembley.

“Why would we move, we are close to the beach, the city and good public schools, including Shenton College,” they said.

“Prices are reasonable and Wembley is also a good family area, with a good community.” n
