It’s on again, the Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run will be held on Sunday, September 9, in the heart of Armadale at Minnawarra Park.

The run will commence at 10am, followed by a Highland Gathering celebrating all things Scottish.

The event is the only one of its kind in WA, with the Perth Kilt Run featuring a 2.5km and 5km fun run route and runners donning a kilt of their choice, competing for novelty prizes on the day.

Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the Armadale Highland Gathering continues to grow in popularity and attracts residents and visitors of Scottish descent as well as families looking for some free fun.

“If it’s a day of culture and family fun you are looking for, the Armadale Highland Gathering is the event to attend,” he said.

Attracting 20,000 people last year, the event features a Clan village, Medieval Fair, meet and greet with Scottish dogs, live entertainment, traditional Scottish food vendors, a tavern boasting a variety of Scottish treats, and pipe band, highland dancing and strongman competitions throughout the day.

“So many Scottish people I speak with at the event and afterwards have let me know that our Highland Gathering is as good, and sometimes even better than their gatherings back home in Scotland,” Mayor Zelones said.

Registrations are now open for the Perth Kilt Run via the website at www.perthkiltrun.com.au.

There is a registration fee of $10 for adults, $ 8 for seniors, $5 for youth and kids under 12 years are free, with part proceeds donated to local charities.

To keep up to date on the event, subscribe to the enewsletter at the website, or follow the event via the City of Armadale Facebook page.
