Chief instructor Mark Golding said the club won 70 medals across four competitions this year.

“The team at Gold Martial Arts are delighted to have finished the season strongly,” he said.

“The level of success has been a result of the athletes’ willingness to work hard, stay focused as well as remain committed to achieving their goals.

“Our training program emphasises the importance of continuous improvement in an individual’s performance and this has been very evident throughout the year.

“We are extremely pleased with the level of success in 2018 and the purpose-designed full-time training facility in Balcatta has been integral to this success, by enabling greater training opportunities for all our athletes.”

Golding said his athletes would now take a “well-deserved” rest from competition and concentrate more on the traditional aspects of karate as a martial art. .
