BAYSWATER Little Athletics Centre (BLAC) was among more than 35 centres across the state that celebrated an annual fundraiser for a children’s charity on November 5.

The centre held parent races, tug-o-wars and a barbecue to raise funds for Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Artist in Residence program, which offered activities for children being cared for at the hospital.

A mascot named Stitches the Bear made a special appearance for the kids.

BLAC chairman Evan Crute said the community event was a main feature of the centre’s events calendar.

Little Athletics WA chief executive Vince Del Prete said Little Athletics WA had been supporting the foundation since 1998 and donated more than $250,000 over the years.

“Centres like Bayswater LAC do a great job in supporting the Foundation, with them being the Centre that has raised the most money for the last six years,” he said.

“Our annual fundraiser day is a fantastic activity which brings families and our community together and helps build the spirit and culture of our clubs.

“For our young members the fundraiser is an opportunity to give back to the community to support other young people their own age, and also to appreciate their own health and wellbeing.”

The funds will be presented to Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation at the Little Athletics WA State Relay Festival on December 11 at the WA Athletics Stadium.
