BEECHBORO played its first game at Altone Park after a four-year absence in Metro Football League competition on Sunday.

Despite the windy day and the 10-goal loss to Brighton, the club said it had a good turnout and there were positives out of the loss.

Veteran Alan Turvey (35) was best on ground, picking up more than 30 possessions.

Peter Maynard also played well and 300-gamer Son Ngyuen held the backline together. Brighton won the division 2 clash 18.6 (114) to 7.2 (44).

This week’s home game is against Queens Park at Altone Park at noon.

At the same ground at 2.30pm, Midland face premiers Queens Park in a rematch of last year’s preliminary final.

For any new players wanting to join the Bombers, training is on Tuesday and Thursday at Altone Park.
