Cricket: Ballajura’s Ashlee Kovalevs to make history as first female WA Premier Cricket First Grade umpire

BALLAJURA cricket umpire Ashlee Kovalevs will become the first female to officiate a WA Premier Cricket First Grade match on Saturday.

Kovalevs (23) will be umpiring the round 8 Premier Cricket match between University and Melville at James Oval.

The Ballajura resident made her Women’s National Cricket League officiating debut two months ago.

Kovalevs first start umpiring in Premier Cricket in 2012 and won last season’s Female Competition Umpire of the Year.

She is part of the Cricket Australia Female Scholarship Officiating Programme and became a member of the WA state representative group in 2015.
