DEFENDING premiers Bayswater City is looking to go back to basics against Subiaco this weekend.

City sit in fifth place on the NPLWA ladder on 39 points while Subiaco are in 13th place on 20 points.

While City are out of the title race, Subiaco are in threat of being relegated.

City assistant coach Alun Vernals said training had been excellent this week, where the players focused on “two touch” and quicker ball movement.

“(We have) no injuries but we do have the two suspensions of Jason Mirco and Brent Griffiths,” he said.

Vernals said his team needed to not concede “soft goals” against Subiaco, which had afflicted them in previous losses.

“They are a team that will always battle and we will need to be aware of the threats they can pose,” he said.

The two sides will face off on August 4 at Frank Drago Reserve.
