DELISTED West Coast Eagle Jamie Bennell and former Carlton player David Ellard are set to bolster the Swan Districts Football Club after they both signed for the 2017 season.

Senior coach Greg Harding said the club was buzzing with more homegrown talent returning to Bassendean Oval.

“Jamie is a high-quality young man who came through our system in 2008 and was a part of a winning colts side that boasted players such as Michael Walters, Jarred Blight, Todd Banfield, Clancee Pearce and Neville Jetta,” Harding said.

“His playing ability is going to make us significantly better in 2017, but it is his leadership and mentoring capabilities that will add so much more to a young playing group.

“His professionalism and humble approach to his footy is going to set a fantastic example to all.

“The experience gained through his 87 games at Melbourne and West Coast will be a valuable asset to all at the footy club, and we can’t wait to have him back in our colours.”

Bennell said he was looking forward to returning to the black and whites.

“It’s great to be back at this great club,” he said.

“Hopefully we can move this club back up the ladder.”
