Former Manchester United star to visit Perth

Stuart HortonEastern Reporter

PAUL Parker shared the field with some of the biggest names in English football during a decorated 15-year career, and a Perth audience will get an insight into life as a professional sportsman when he visits later this month.

Parker, who won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and League Cup during five years at Manchester United, and represented his country 19 times, will be speaking at the State Library Theatre in Northbridge on October 28.

His career took in stints at Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, United, Derby County and Chelsea, and he shared a dressing room with players such as Eric Cantona, Bryan Robson and Ryan Giggs, and was managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, who called Parker “one of the best signings” he made as Manchester United manager.

“(Parker) was an integral part of the defence I consider to be the best I have ever worked with,” Ferguson has said in reference to the famous back four of Parker, Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister and Dennis Irwin.
