THREE athletes from Central Aquatic Swimming and Lifesaving Club in Bayswater will represent WA at the Australian Pool Life Saving Championships in Melbourne next week.

Caitlin Brazil (13), Trent Huzzard (15) and Nathan Rogers (20) are among 14 athletes who will have the chance to earn a place in the National Pool Life Saving team, the Aussie Barras.

The representatives won their place in the State team after taking part in development sessions before competing in the state trials in November 2016.

The annual Australian Pool Life Saving Championships will consist of an under 14s and senior (under 16s, under 19s, open and masters) competition.

WA state coach Sarah Hamilton, who previously represented WA and Australia, said she was impressed with the quality of the athletes at the trials.

“Unfortunately not all of the athletes could be included in the team, but we’d encourage those who missed out to keep working on their skills and return next time around,” she said.

The Australian Pool Life Saving Championship will be held from January 11 to 13.
